Arittha Wikramanayake who is the Precedent Partner of the Firm, is responsible for its corporate and securities practice. He received his professional education at the Sri Lanka Law College and was admitted as an Attorney-at-Law in 1981. Subsequently, he proceeded to obtain postgraduate degrees in law from the Schools of Law at the Vrije Universitiet, Brussels, Belgium and the University of Georgia, Athens, USA. He also has a Masters in Law and Diplomacy (MALD) from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, USA.

Prior to founding the Firm, Arittha held several senior positions in the public sector. They include those of the Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, where he was instrumental in setting up the regulatory framework for the capital markets in Sri Lanka; a member of the Public Enterprises Reform Commission of Sri Lanka, where he participated in laying out policy for the privatization of several vital state owned enterprises, including the LPG, telecommunications and plantations industries. Arittha has also served as a member of the Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Board and been State Counsel with the Attorney General’s Department of Sri Lanka. 

Arittha is also actively involved in corporate governance and corporate social responsibility issues, having served on several committees appointed by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, to formulate codes of Corporate Governance. In 2009 Arittha was appointed to a four-member task force by the Monetary Board of Sri Lanka, on the direction of the Cabinet, to advise Financial Institutions in Sri Lanka, on the use of facilities provided by the Central Bank to overcome the impact of the global financial crisis.

Arittha has several publications to his credit, including “Company Law in Sri Lanka” which is an authoritative text on the Companies Act of 2007 and being a co author of “Philanthropy and Law in South Asia”. Having varied interests he is also the co author of “ Butterflies of Sri Lanka” and the author of “ Wild Flowers of Sri Lanka”.
